my cousin has a ovarian cyst and the dr gave her birth control for it. the doctor said the cyst is 4 centimeters and thats too small to do surgery on.
I just want yo know if anyone has experienced birth control getting rid of a ovarian cyst. I have a 10 cm one.. would it work on that large on one?
The birth control is to sustain the cysts, but I was wondering how safe it actually is to use the birth control to sustain the cysts and still be able to work effectively. My girlfriend occasionally gets extremely bad pains from her ovarian cysts, and she just recently got some of the worst pains about 4 or 5 days after the most recent time we’ve had sex and she believes that her stomach is a bit swollen along with the pains. Can the cysts cause swelling and are the chances of getting pregnant very high considering the situation? Thanks.
Also, will the cysts ever cause any kind of stomach swelling, or at least swelling in the area of the stomach? Mainly belly button and below.
She actually just went to get an ultrasound today and the ultrasound was full of orange dots all around the ovaries. The doctor said that this was bloodflow. What kind of bloodflow is that? Is that normal, or did the cysts maybe break or something like that?

I am eighteen, and have been on birth control for nearly four years, but I was diagnosed with ovarian cysts today. Is this normal? I thought birth control made (harmless) ovarian cysts nearly impossible due to the lack of ovulation.
Does this mean the cysts are something worse?
Will birth control make them stop? I have ovarian cysts and they hurt bad.
