What are the chances of getting pregnant with ovarian cysts while also being on birth control?
The birth control is to sustain the cysts, but I was wondering how safe it actually is to use the birth control to sustain the cysts and still be able to work effectively. My girlfriend occasionally gets extremely bad pains from her ovarian cysts, and she just recently got some of the worst pains about 4 or 5 days after the most recent time we’ve had sex and she believes that her stomach is a bit swollen along with the pains. Can the cysts cause swelling and are the chances of getting pregnant very high considering the situation? Thanks.
Also, will the cysts ever cause any kind of stomach swelling, or at least swelling in the area of the stomach? Mainly belly button and below.
She actually just went to get an ultrasound today and the ultrasound was full of orange dots all around the ovaries. The doctor said that this was bloodflow. What kind of bloodflow is that? Is that normal, or did the cysts maybe break or something like that?

The chances of getting pregnant with cyst are the same with a person who does not have cyst. I have had cyst before and I was never told my doctor about any of this. If you are worried you should have her talk to her doctor. The cyst may cause her to swell….it never happen to me but I guess its possible. I would just have her talk to her doctor about the situation.

Ok this is as much as i know, I am almost 6 mths pregant now, couple months before i fell pregnant i had an ultrasound to find out why iwas gettin unususal abdominal pain, turns out i had a cyst on one of my ovaries the doctor told me they can be painfull but that it was really like a bigger ovulation was how she put it and not to worry bout not being preg yet and that the cyst will burst and all will go back to normal (i had concerns about y i wasnt fallin pregnant and hadnt bn takin ny precautions to prevent it like contraception etc) i didnt have swelling to my knowledge, just alot of pain and then bout 8wks later i had another ultrasound to find that the cyst had shrunk and burst, i then had a normal period again and i stopped worring bout not being pregnant yet and guess wat by the next month i was pregnant so i think the cyst helped me fall pregnant and a friend of mine said that cysts actually help you stay pregnant if you have them during that they are good for it and harmless. I didnt have to take the pill for mine but was given medication for it though which didnt agree with me so i stopped takin it and i guess the cyst went on its own. i guess yor partner has had alot more pain compared to me for her tummy to swell and has obviously more than one cyst and she is on the pill too but i think that she will get pregnant soon just keep seeing the doc yous are doing the right thing there i know it was right for me cos here i am almost 6 mths l8r pregnant painless and happy, so good luck and if the pain is that bad for her at times panadol or nurofen is good it helped me. just make sure she takes iteasy too. hope this info has helped in someway

Cysts can rupture and cause excruciating pain. I have them and endometreosis and this is not abnormal. They can make you very sick to your stomach b/c of the “poison” inside the cyst.
